Description

Late 19th early 20th century formal garden layout in a cemetery (B1).
A typical early C20 public cemetery with buildings and layout designed by local architect C S Vardy, which survives very largely intact. The surviving planting, advised by local nurseryman Charles Turner, includes mature specimen trees and shrubs typical of late C19 and early C20 cemeteries. See report for detail (B2).
