Description
3 SILVER PENNIES OF CEOWULF II OF MERCIA (874-C.879), ALL LONDON MINT & BY SAME MONEYER. FOUND BY MR JOHN PACKER IN FIELD TO SOUTH OF CHEDDINGTON ROAD. POSSIBLY FROM HOARD? OR PURSE LOSS? (B1-2).
Three Romano British coins found, probably whilst metal detectoring - two were found 35m apart by the eastern boundary, and the other 50m east of the corner of the workshop. Coin Descriptions: Coin 1 - the largest, a copper alloy follis of the Emporer Diolectian issued after his abdication in AD 305. The reverse has the personification 'Quies' holding a branch and spectre. Coin 2 - broken, a copper allow antoninianus of the Emporer Probus ( AD 276-282). The reverse shows 'Roma' in a temple. Coin 3 - smallest, a copper alloy coin of the Emporer Licinius I (AD 308-324). The reverse shows the eagle of Jove (B3).
