Description
WALL PAINTINGS ON N WALL OF NAVE, C15/C16 OVER C13 (B8).
PAINTINGS DISCOVERED 1889; SHOW SS NICHOLAS & CHRISTOPHER (B4).
Most conspicuous the early C16 Seven Deadly Sins, large figure with six branches growing out of it, each ending in a monster's head. Remains of a C13 St Nicholas (B7).
CONSERVATION IN 1995 REVEALS EVIDENCE OF 5 OR 6 SUCCESSIVE PAINTED SCHEMES: EARLY C13, EARLY-MID C14, LATE C14, EARLY-MID C15, EARLY C16, AND POST-REFORMATION (DETAILS)(B9).
