Description
NORTH OF BRIAR HILL FARM, SOUTH OF RAILWAY LINE. UNDATED DITCHES AND PITS. FOUND DURING EVALUATION OF AYLESBURY-STEPPINGLEY PIPELINE. (B1)
Three ditches and pit were evidence of possible Roman agricultural activity. Two ditches each contained a single sherd of undiagnostic Roman pottery which was probably residual. The ditches were similar, e.g. all V-shaped in profile and contained similar fills. They may have been drainage ditches and field boundaries. The pit contained a single flake of Neolithic or Bronze Age date that, although relatively fresh, the excavators believed to have been residual (B2).
