PAINSHILL OR PARNSHILL CONSISTS OF TWO FARMS... ONE OF THE FARM-HOUSES...IS ANCIENT AND LOFTY...IN THE PRESENT INSTANCE THERE ARE SOME TRACES OF WHAT HAS BEEN CONSIDERED A MOAT (B3).
PRESUMABLY SHEAHAN IS REFERING TO UPPER PAINSHILL FARM AS BEST FITS HIS DESCRIPTION? HOWEVER NO MOAT SHOWN ON BRYANT'S 1824 MAP.
