Description

FOUND DURING LAYING OF WATER PIPE. ROAD WITH BED OF LARGE BLOCKS, INTERMEDIATE PEBBLES AND SURFACE OF GRAVEL. CENTRE OF ROAD SURFACE WORN. POSSIBLY ROMAN ROAD BETWEEN ALCHESTER AND TOWCESTER (CASS 2980, MARKED ON OTHER SIDE OF AVENUE ON OS)(B1-2).
