Description

2 DITCHES AND 2 PITS CONTAINED MATERIAL DATING TO THE IRON AGE FOUND DURING EVALUATION TRIAL TRENCHING BY BCMAS IN JANUARY 1996. ONE OF THE PITS CONTAINED 15 SHERDS OF IRON AGE POTTERY AND A FRAGMENT OF CRUCIBLE WITH COPPER RESIDUE ON THE INSIDE. CRUCIBLE TRIANGULAR IN FORM WITH CURVED BASE. SIMILAR TO THOSE FROM GUSSAGE ALL SAINTS (SEE B11). 33 SHERDS OF IRON AGE POTTERY WERE FOUND IN TOTAL, 15 OF WHICH WERE RISIDUAL WITHIN LATER FEATURES. 3 SHERDS OF UNDIAGNOSTIC PREHISTORIC POTTERY WERE ALSO FOUND (B10).
