Description

Grade II. C18 with earlier back wing. Painted brick, old tile roofs, hipped in front with corbelled brick cornice. 2 storeys, 4 flush casements, modern glazing and wide ground floor window. Cut bracketed door hood (B1).
Shown as the 'Red Lion PH' on 1876, 1898 and 1925 25-inch OS maps and on 1944 and later 6-inch OS maps until the late 1950s (B2).
In 1872 the Red Lion was recorded as first licenced in 1832, with the publican recorded Lawrence Clark and the owners were Messrs Wheeler and Co [Wycombe Brewery]. Presumably this entry is refering to the Red Lion pub at Wycombe Marsh rather than the much older Red Lion Hotel on the High Street (B3).
