No. 49: Front range roof section is of two bays and measures 4.4m in length. The roof incorporates two queen-strut trusses with diagonally-set purlins. Some of the rafters have a rough, curved appearance which suggests they are original, with more modern squared timbers, clearly part of later refurbishment, probably 1930s. A steeply pitched truss is essentially sanwiched between the 18th century brick end wall of No. 50 and the truss at the western end of No.49. This presumably survives from a previous building, possibly on the footprint of No.50. (2)
The rear extension uses mainly 20th century rafters, but there are two small sections where the rafters have potentially been reused from elsewhere. Towards the south-east corner a number of short lengths of timber have been inserted in a way that suggests a feature, such a chimney has been removed. The north-western extension is a single storey brick lean-to. The rafters are machine-sawn set at regular intervals. (2)

No. 48: roof section clearly more modern than No.49. Rafters are more evenly space and regularly sawn.
Front elevation. The properties were refronted in the 18th century using red-orange brick laid in a flemish bond. Several areas of alteration/repair work.most noticble the infilling a of a doorway beside the entrance to No.49. (2)
A flint wall was observed between the extension and rear of No.50. Flint construction with brick quoins in each corner. The flint wall represents an earlier single storey building which has been extended both virtically and ina northerly direction. (2)
