Description

GRADE II.C16,ALTERED.GABLE ENDED HOUSE OF COLOUR WASHED BRICK WITH TIMBERFRAMED 1ST FLOOR.OLD TILED ROOF.2 STOREYS & ATTICS.GROUND FLOOR HAS 2 DOUBLE HUNG SASHES WITH SHUTTERS & PLAIN DOOR,NOW ALTERED TO WINDOW,ALL WITH NARROW BRACKETED HOOD OVER. 1ST FLOOR HAS 2 LIGHT CASEMENT;ATTIC 1 LIGHT CASEMENT (B1).
Dendro-dating obtains felling date of 1450-51 for timber of jettied cross wing (E range). A second felling date of 1532 for timber from close-studding (W range) suggests that the west range repaced a hall range at this date. See reports (filed) for detail (B2).
At ground floor there are separate doors for each of the two properties (Nos. 24 and 25) and three sash windows. The eastern three openings (25) are each beneath matching segmental arch lintels with bricks on their ends (B3).
