Description

Grade II. All formerly one messuage, The Black Boy Inn, now in 4 occupancies. Late C17 or early C18 front, probably incorporating earlier structure on right. Colour washed brick, old tiled roof. 2 storeys, central carriageway, right hand 1st floor oversailing on cast iron columns and end brackets. Continuous ground floor frieze over large C18 shop windows with glazing bars - 3 windows to left of carriageway, 2 to right flanking door with cut bracketed hood. 9 1st floor double hung sashes in flush wood architraves, 8 with flat arches, sills and aprons; smaller central window over carriageway; all with glazing bars. Dentil brick cornice. Yard has left hand wing with brick ground floor, oversailing weatherboarded 1st floor, old tiled roof. Right hand colour washed brick wing of 2 storeys and 2 casements. Cobbled paving to yard. Outbuildings adjoining No 2 on West, Nos 2 to 5 (consec), Nos 7 to 9 (consec), The Swan Public House, West Wycombe Branch County Library, Nos 10 to 13 (consec), No 15, Black Boy Cottage, The George and Dragon Inn and Nos 16 to 23 (consec) form a group (B1).
