Description
Grade II. C16, altered C19. Timber framework, hipped tiled roof. Modern shop and 1st floor windows. Timber framework exposed to 2nd floor with whitewashed brick nogging, sliding 4 light casement with glazing bars. Nos 1 to 3 (consec) form a group with Church of All Saints, Churchyard Gates, No 2, The Antelope Public House, No 5 and No 6 Church Square (B1).
Thomas Butterfield inkeeper of the Wheatsheaf issued trade tokens in the 17th century. The original building still stands and was still an inn in 1875, and is shown on several old photographs. Now (1967) a tobacconist's shop. Further detail (B2).
