Description

Grade II. Early C18 house with 1st floor central dummy window containing flush stone tablet carved with initials RCA and date 1722. Red and grey brickwork, old tiled roof with coved cornice and gabled casement dormer. 2 storeys, attics and basement, 1st floor brick band. 2 double hung sash windows in flush wooden architraves, ground floor cambered relieving arches. 6 steps up to 4 fielded panelled door with surround of ribbed pilasters, well carved consoles which flank carved frieze of corn sheaves and cherub mask and carry coffered cornice hood. No 39A, Fern Cottage, No 39, 40A, 40, 41, 41A, 42, 42A, 43, 44 and Christadelphian Chapel form a group (B1).
