Description

Grade II. Grammar School. Main block dated 1914, in a robust Queen Anne style. Purple brick dressed with red; Westmorland slate roof. 2 storeys, E-plan with slightly projecting inner wings. Excluding outer wings, windows run 3:6:5:6:3. Flush sashes under flat arches; glazing bars. 3 central windows Venetian to 1st floor over round headed windows and main doorway. Wide pilasters to pediment. Modillions to pediment and cornice. Roof ridge central wooden clock turret with lead cupola, ball finial. Architect: A S Vernon (B1).
