Description

DURING EXCAVATIONS FOR NEW CHURCH OF ST PAUL (1845) QUANTITY OF HUMAN BONES WERE DISINTERRED. FOUND AT SLIGHT DEPTH BELOW SURFACE. BODIES APPARENTLY BURIED IN AN IRREGULAR MANNER, PERHAPS AFTER A SANGUINARY ENCOUNTER. TRADITIONALLY, A STRUGGLE TOOK PLACE HERE BETWEEN ROMANS & BRITONS (B1,B4).
