Description

Grade II. House. C16-early C17. Timber frame with curved braces and brick infill to upper storey, ground floor rebuilt in brick. Gable is patterned with diapers and crosses in vitreous brick. Old tile roof, external brick chimneys to each side. 2 storeys, 2 bays. C20 barred wooden casements. Side to School Lane has paired casements flanking chimney in left bay, another to first floor right, and C20 door to right of centre. Right gable has 3-light ground floor window, and 2-light window above. C19 bay to left, along lane, is of flint and brick with narrow band course and raised eaves. Similar casements, that to upper storey in gabled eaves-line dormer; entrance to passage to left. Interior of older part has heavy longitudinal joists, and roof with queen strut trusses and curved wind-braces. Fireplaces later. Possibly built as cross wing to Old Beams [CASS 1310404000].
