Description

Grade II. House, with range of outbuildings and stables. Mid C18, altered. House is of red and vitreous brick with red brick dressings and flint plinth. Right side rendered and colourwashed. Old tile M roof. Flanking brick chimneys, the right external and of older brick. 2 storeys and attic, 4-bay fenestration. 3-pane sashes, 2 to centre of first floor old, remainder altered, 2 to ground floor left with C20 surrounds. Former central doorway blocked. C20 3-light metal attic casements to gables. C20 door in left side. Rear has original arches over 2 first floor casements and central staircase window. To right, curving round corner into Shogmore Lane, is a single storey flint range with brick dressings and eaves, and old tile roof. This has 3-light kitchen window to left, C20 board doors at entry to yard, and blocked stable windows along lane. Queen strut trusses with curved braces to tie beams and curved wind-braces. Interior of house has original staircase with turned balusters and moulded handrail, heavy ceiling beam in hall, and re-used cambered tie beam in kitchen (B1).
