Grade II. Offices. Late C17, much repaired C20. Red and vitreous brick, band courses at second floor level to front and at first floor level to left side. Old tile roofs, C20 brick chimney to left side. 2 storeys and attic, 2 bays, both gabled to front. Each bay has 2 leaded cross casements to first floor and one paired leaded casement to attic. Ground floor of left bay has early C19 rectangular bay window with paired 4-pane sashes and hipped tile roof. Right bay has shallow projection with hipped roof and C20 3-light leaded casement. Door to right. Interior refurbished but ground floor left room retains early C19 fireplacewith architrave surround and carved frieze, and flanking arched cupboards with panelled doors and shaped shelves (B1).
Cromwell House, in Church Street, was rescued from a state of neglect by the County Council in 1972. Its twin-gabled façade is of a style popular in the early 1600s and its external appearance has probably changed little, with original brickwork and first-floor windows and faithfully reproduced modern timbers framing original glass in the gables (B2).
