Description
PART OF ROMAN VESSEL FOUND WHILE DIGGING A CELLAR AT MR EDMOND'S IN THE HIGH STREET; NOW (1797) IN MR EDMOND'S POSSESSION (B1).
HOUSE NOW (1878) BELONGS TO MR HERBERT SIMMONDS (B2).
NGR TO 14 HIGH STREET (B4).
"Langley in his history (1797) mentions that many years since, part of a Roman vessel was found when a cellar was dug in a house in the High Street, now belonging to Mr Herbert Simmonds" (B1, above). (Sited to SU 8667 9296 from Parker's map). (B2, above)
