Dimensions - Length 0457 cm
TRENCH ENDING IN CAVITY C.1M CIRCUMFERENCE, C.1M BELOW GROUND SURFACE. FILLED IN WITH LOAM & FLINTS. SMALL PIT LINED WITH FLINTS, MUCH BLACKENED & CRACKED BY FIRE. CONTAINED POTTERY & ANIMAL BONES. FOUND BY MR A BEAUCHAMP MAY-JUNE 1929 WHEN LEVELLING GROUND (B1).


A number of coarse Romano-British potsherds were found by Mr F Colmer, at Terriers a little north of Green Lane (SU 872945) on the hill above Hughenden. They occurred in a trench some 15ft long, ending in a small pit, 3-4ft in diameter, lined with blackened flints and containing animal bones as well as blackened pottery. (B2)
