Description

VILLAGE SAID TO HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY 1735 (B5).
WAS REFERRED TO AS A DECAYED HAMLET C.1755 (B1).
ONCE A POPULOUS VILLAGE, NOW (1862) DEPOPULATED & INCLUDED IN THE GROUNDS OF STOWE HOUSE (B2).
HAD A CHAPEL (B1-2).
NGR TO BOYCOTT MANOR (B4).
MANOR HOUSE ITSELF IS A C19 BUILDING (B6).
(Land of Reinbald) Reinbald holds 1 hide in Boycott from the King. Land for 3 ploughs. Now in lordship 1 plough, with 1 villager. Woodland 4 furlongs long and 2 wide. The value was 40s; now 20s. Blackman held it freely (B7).
Historic building survey carried out by Paul Woodfield and local volunteers in 2004 as part of the Whittlewood Project (B8).
