Description
Grade II. Dated 1839 with right hand wing dated 1910 by Charles Harrison-Townsend (Pevsner). Yellow brick; tiled roof. Gabled wings flank centre which has tall gabled window with hood mould. Mullioned or Mullioned and transomed windows with hoodmoulds. Stone date plaques and curzon monogram in left hand gable (B1).
Watching brief carried out in January 2010 by Archaeological Solutions identified an undated small pit and either the remains of a brick wall foundation or possibly a layer of demolition debris underlying 0.4m-0.6m of modern make-up layers. See report for detail (B2).
The yellow brick Tudor Church Hall of 1838-9, designed as a girls' school for the first Earl Howe by Blore, with a skillfully matched r-hand wing by Harrison Townsend, 1910 (B3).
