Description

Grade II. C17 and earlier. Stucco, C19 ground floor windows to Post Office. 2 buildings joined with large brick chimney stack of circa 1620-30 at junction with square base, 4 shafts. Wing on left has 2 storeys, 1st floor oversailing. Wing on right has quoins, entablature at eaves level, 2 storey oriel bay to 1st and 2nd floors. Interior contained C17 chimneypiece, now removed, but retains original C17 staircase with newel posts, turned balusters, moulded handrails and close string (B1).
No 77, two still partly timber-framed buildings joined by a very big early C17 chimney with polygonal stacks; C17 staircase (B2).
Chesham's newest pub was set up in the town's old post office building in 1994. Known as The Last Post until 2006 (B3).
