Description
A RIM OF C3-4 MORTARIUM, 3.5 X 1.5IN, WITH SPOUT (B1); 2 FURTHER RIMS & BASE SHERDS; 1 PIECE OF STORAGE JAR; ANOTHER MORTARIUM FRAGMENT (B2). FROM FIELDS TO S & E OF LITTLE HORWOOD MANOR; NGR TO CENTRE OF FINDSPOTS (B2). ALSO FOUND: 1 PIECE OF FLUE TILE (B2).
SP 79403158 Rim of 3rd-4th century mortarium found by Hood, gardener at Little Horwood Manor. SP 79423148 Further Roman sherds and fragemtns of tile found in August 1973 by Bull (B3).
SP 79403158. Roman finds including a third to fourth century mortarium; potsherds and a piece of flue tile were found by Hood, whilst gardening at Little Horwood. The finds are now in Buckinghamshire County Museum (235.73) (B4).
Hood verified the findspot of the Roman material, but states that not more than 6 wall tile fragments were discovered. No further finds made (B5).
