Extensive remains of medieval settlement shrinkage is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located primarily north of New Row across the eastern side of Hoggeston village and centred at SP 80600 25202, the settlement remains comprise a series of mostly rectilinear earthwork platforms of various sizes, bounded by a network of interconnected ditches or trackways. Also visible are terracing scarps and four probable ponds. Aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data indicate that almost all these features remain extant, with one probable pond having been built upon (10-14).

(Centred SP 807250) Shrunken village of Hoggeston was enclosed by an oblong ditch with rounded corners 440 yards from E to W and 220 yards from N to S (B15).
Ditch and street layout (B9).
Sporadic earthworks consistent with Md village shrinkage are visible in the fields adjoining the modern village. The most coherent remains (in area centred SP 805251) form a W boundary trackway extending for c 200m N-S, with adjoining enclosures. Earthworks visible on Aps (2) in field centred SP 80652512 are largely the result of later disturbance, whilst those visible in field centred SP 80652520 form the remains of two ditched enclosures, each c46.0m across. The western part of this field now forms a garden extension. Surveyed at 1:2500 (B16).
No change to report of 11.6.74. No extant remains fall on SP 82 SW (Aylesbury O/H 2) (B17).
A rapid examination of air photography (b9) shows the earthworks of the shrunken village (B18).
