Description
Grade II. C19. Stucco, Welsh slates. 3 storeys, 3 sashes in reveals, glazing bars. Ground floor canted later bay on right, central and left-hand C19 shop front with pilasters, entablature. All listed buildings in Temple Square form a group (B1).
The front of Number 2 would originally have been symmetrical with three 6 over 6 sash windows on the upper two floors and a centrally located door between two windows of a similar style at ground floor level. The ground floor was modernised in the early 20th century when a shop front with a half glazed timber door and three arched lights above was added. The structural analysis suggests that the east-west range of Number 2 is the oldest part of the building, possibly dating from the 16th century. The rear wing was added some time in the late 17th or early 18th century and was extended again in the 20th century (B2).
