Description
Grade II. C17. 2 storeys. Part timber framed and plastered, part brick. Old tile roof. L-shaped plan with original chimney at west end. Later wing of vitreous brick with red dressings, now stuccoed adjoining No 3 Temple Square. Front to Temple Square has 2 3-light casements, modern door and modern bay window on ground floor. Picturesque. All listed buildings in Temple Square form a group (B1).
Historic building recording carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in June and July 2011 during restoration work to a chimney suggests that the chimney possibly dates from the 16th century with 18th century additions, and that the building may have originated as a cross-passage building in the mid 16th century - slightly earlier than previously thought. See report for detail (B2).
