Description

Grade II. Shop and dwelling. Probably late C15, altered C19 and C20. Rendered over timber frame, with C20 plain-tile roof and large front lateral stack; now capped at eaves level. L-plan. 2-storey, 3-window range. C20 shop front to centre with deep recessed central door, and C19 shop window immediately to right, altered C20 with moulded cornice. Large front lateral stack immediately to left of central shop front. C19 four-pane window to ground floor far left in blank recess extending into 1st floor. The 1st floor is jettied to right of stack and has a 2- and a 3-light casement window to far right. 2-storey wing to rear right. INTERIOR: structure is not visible in shop. The stack is believed to relate to a late medieval stone fireplace to ground floor with an ornamental frieze. Original roof believed to survive. The building is said to have lost at least one bay to left at the creation of Bridge Street in early C19 (B1).
