Description

Grade II. House, now 2 houses. Early-mid C18, altered later C18 and C19. Red brick in Flemish bond with some flared headers, plain-tile roof; brick end stacks. 3-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 6-window range. 6-panel door to right of centre with moulded wood surround in C19 stuccoed porch, which has doorway with elliptical-arched head, impost mouldings, plinth, pair of narrow 1-light openings either side, moulded cornice and stepped blocking cornice. 6-panel, part-glazed door to left of centre (to No.56) with moulded wood surround and straight hood on shaped brackets. 12-pane sash windows to ground and 1st floors, those to ground floor with segmental-arched heads above straight heads of windows, rendered in between, and flat-arched heads to those to 1st floor. Blank window to ground floor right of porch. Pair of windows to 1st floor left of centre and pair to 1st floor far right are dummy windows with painted glazing bars. Plinth, moulded storey band, hollow-chamfered brick eaves and 2 hip-roofed roof dormer windows to left of centre with 2-light casements. Rows of flared headers flank windows. Outbuilding to right of red brick in Flemish bond with some flared headers, and hipped plain-tile roof. Central double-leaf carriage doors with wicket to left leaf and wood lintel, lower, later double-leaf carriage doors to right with wood lintel, and gabled roof dormer to far left. INTERIOR: chamfered spine beams with scooped stops. Stair with mahogany stick balusters, column newels and ramped handrail. Stone cellar (B1).
