Description

Grade II. House. Late C18, altered early C19 and C20. Red brick in Flemish bond, with plain-tile roof and brick lateral stacks. 3-storey, 5-window range. Central 6-panel door approached by 3 stone steps, with overlight divided into 4 square panes, moulded wood surround and straight hood with small dentilled cornice on shaped brackets. 12-paned sash windows to ground and 1st floors, those to ground floor with gauged brick flat-arched heads, those to 1st floor with flat-arched heads, and 9-pane sashes to 2nd floor with similar heads. Rendered plinth with cellar window to left which has segmental-arched head. Storey bands and dentilled brick cornice.
2-storey range to rear with double hipped roof and 2-storey canted bay window facing garden to rear. This range is continued to right of front range by wing with rendered front, which has C20 glazed door to left of C19 bay shop window and small wood mullion and transom window to 1st floor.
INTERIOR: drawing room has mid C18 carved wood chimneypiece with egg-and-dart ornament and pulvinated frieze. Staircase from ground to 1st floor of mahogany with open well, stick balusters and ramped and wreathed handrail. Pair of niches at intermediate level and oval skylight. Dining room has fitted mahogany cupboard with double-leaf doors, glazed uppermost with Gothic arched glazing bars (B1).
