Description

Grade II. House, now three cottages. Probably second half C16 with C17 outshut and subsequent alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill and painted and rendered brick. Plain tile roof with 3 brick chimneys. One and a half storeys, 3 bays with outshut under cat-slide roof across most of front elevation. Outshut: at left end (no 12) is of brick with C20 board door and 2-light 8-pane wood-framed window; at centre, is part timber-framed with brick infill and part brick with a board door (no 10) and a 3-light window with 4-pane casements; at right end (no 8), is of brick with door in return. Main range: at right end, adjacent to outshut, is offset lateral stack and, on 1st floor, some original timber-framing exposed, including wall-post with arch-brace to wall-plate and stud; 3 gabled dormers witn C20 small-pane windows and chimney between left-hand dormers. Central ridge stack; vent at left end. Right return (no 8): rendered ground floor has an 8-pane side-sliding sash on left; exposed timber-framing on 1st floor, as at front and with roof truss. Rear: C20 brick lean-tos, conservatory and windows. Interior: not inspected, but contains old timbers. RCHM I p.317. MON. 27 (B1).
