Description

Grade II. Two cottages, formerly an inn. C17 altered, timber framed with colourwashed brick infill and part refacing. Thatched roof, half hipped at E. end. Central chimney stack of old thin bricks; second projecting stack at W. end with string courses and weathered offsets and projecting semicircular bake oven at base. 1 storey and attic, N. front has 2 doors. Irregular mocern casements, one 3-light upper casement and 2 casements breaking up into thatch. S. front has 2 small modern flat roofed extensions. Attached weatherboarded outbuilding at E. end under continuation of main roof (B1).


The Seven Stars Inn at Broughton is two-storeyed, the upper storey partly in the roof. It was built of brick and timber, probably in the middle of the C17th, and has been partly refaced with modern brick.The roof is thatched. One chimney stack is of old thin brick. Condition - Fairly good (B2).
