Description
Grade II. Village Hall. 1884 by George Devey, one of his last buildings, built as a memorial to Anthony de Rothschild by his widow Laura. Red brick with timber framing to gables. Red tiled roof with ornamental ridge tiles and finials. Central cupola rectangular in plan with tile base, wooden louvre sides and corner brackets supporting steeply tapered lead cover with 2 finials. Gable end to road has large shallow bay window, tie beam inscribed "ANTHONY HALL 1884", cross casement in gable. West elevation has 2 chimneys with square panelled shafts, 2 narrow windows flanking LH window and 2 layer mullioned and transomed windows with gabled heads. 1-storey wing on E. side with porch in angle and window rising above eaves with hipped roof (B1).
