Description

Grade II. C17. Two storeys. Timber-frame with brick and plaster infill. Rubble stone base and lower gables. Thatch. Central door, 2 modern leaded casements each side. Small 3-light first floor casement to left under eaves, 2-light on right rising into thatch (B1).
Building survey and documentary research suggest the building was constructed as a two-bay timber-framed cottage in the 17th century. The north and central tie-beams are both heavily cambered, the central tie-beam shows signs of re-use and has two large peg holes suggestive of skew-pegging. It is suggested that both tiebeams are reused cruck blades, possibly from the adjacent property (29 High Street). See report for detail (B3).
