Description

Grade II. Medieval and later. Attached to rear wing of No 11. Rubble stone, tiled roof (replacing thatch). Door on left and 3 large garage doors. Modern roof structure but one complete cruck truss in situ, with blades carried up to ridge (B1).
1 cruck truss with elbowed blade form. Source: G.M. Beresford; Rec. Buckinghamshire, 17, 1967, 134 (B2).
Building recording and documentary research suggests that the building originated as a detached kitchen and documentary references can possibly be traced back to 1539. One cruck truss remains with a saddle apex (type 'C'), heavily weathered on the south side, indicating that it was formerly the southern end of the building and heavily soot blackened on the north (internal) side. See report for detail (B3).
