Description

Grade II. Small house. C17 and C18. Coursed rubble stone, timber lintels to openings, thatched roof. Thin brick in stack between left- hand bays, later brick stacks at gable ends. T-plan with main range at right-angles to road and projection to centre rear. S. front has one-and-a-half storeys and three bays. Left-hand bay is C18 addition, slightly set back, with more even coursing, lower ridge and higher eaves. Ground floor has 3-light barred casements in left-hand and centre bays, blocked opening in right-hand bays. Two similar windows to first floor right-hand bays, C19 3-light casement to left with single horizontal glazing bars. Door between left-hand bays set back in moulded frame (B1).
A 2-bay stone built farmhouse set at right angles to the road, of 2 storeys and attics, built probably between 1660-1680, extended by a further, narrower two-storey bay towards the road, probably at the end of the 17th century, and with a rear wing. It was probably built by a small farmer-freeholder, settling away from the village near his own fields (B2).
