Description

Grade II. House. Late C17, altered C18. Coursed rubble stone, tiled roof, toothed brick eaves, brick end stacks. Two storeys, basement and attic, three bays. Main storeys have C20 barred sash windows with stone heads to ground floor, timber lintels to first floor. Basement has C20 casements with stone heads and air bricks to sides. Gabled dormers have paired barred casements and decorative bargeboards. Central panelled door, half-glazed, with barred rectangular fanlight. C19 rendered gabled porch with arch to front and marginal coloured glazing to return windows. Parallel range to rear. Wing at right-angles to rear right now demolished and plaque dated 1762 re-set in E. wall (B1).
The building appears to be a major building of the village of the 17h century, perhaps one of the missing maors. The early work is confined to a single pile building on the S side, very heavily reworked in the mid-late 19th century, and with an added rear service range (B2).
