Description

Grade II. Small house. C17-C18, altered. Rubble stone, timber lintels to openings. Gable end has brick dressings: quoins, window surrounds, coped gable and kneelers. Thatched roof with brick stack to S. of centre. One-and-a- half storeys, three bays. Irregular entrance front to NW has 3-light casement with leaded outer panes to ground floor of centre bay, blank bay to right and leaded casement in thatch of left hand bay over C20 lean-to thatched porch in angle with link to C20 stone and thatched garage block. Rear irregular with 3-light casements, some leaded panes, blocked door between left hand bays and lean-to with slate roof to right (B1).
The building is clearly of the 17th century, and is probably a dwelling of a farmer of some means, although it may have been held by lease. It has undergone some alterations to the original fabric, both in the mid 19th century when a second fireplace was added to the end bay, and again in the 20th century. More historic fabric remains concealed (B2).
