HOMESTEAD MOAT WITH STRONG RAMPART AT N END (B3).
IN 1971 SE & PART OF SW & NE ARMS OF MOAT FILLED IN BY DUMPING. OTHERWISE IN GOOD CONDITION. TRACES OF INNER RAMPART IN NE CORNER (PLAN) (B5).
SQUARE MOATED SITE NOTED 1847 (B1).
IN 1862 MOAT BROAD & DEEP & CONTAINED FISH (B2).
NGR TO MARSWORTH GREAT FARM (B5).
Site visit by David Radford recorded that the moat has been dug out several times to enable use as a fishing lake, island raised 4ft due to dumping of material, steps set into bank (B8).

The moat at Marsworth Great Farm is all that remains of the manor house of the Goldingtons pulled down in the 18th century (B11).
Homestead moat with strong rampart at the N end. A good example of its class (B3).
Homstead moat of which the SE arm and parts of the SW and NE arms have been filled in by dumping. Otherwise, waterfilled (reeds) and in good condition. Traces of an inner rampart in the NE corner survive to a height of 1.2m. An extension of the SW arm at the South corner may be a fishpond. Published 1:2500 survey revised (B12).
