Description
A PALAEOLITHIC HANDAXE & POSSIBLY SOME FURTHER MATERIAL FOUND at the pit south of Iver church is now in the British Museum.. THE SUGGESTED EXTENT OF THE PIT (NAME UNKNOWN) SHOWN ON 1932 OS 6 INCH MAP WAS CONFIRMED. IT IS NOW AN AREA OF OVERGROWN WASTELAND (B1-2).
Site mentioned in English Rivers Palaeolithic Survey (B3-4).
The suggested extent of the pit (name unknown) shown on the OS 6" 1932 was confirmed by Mr C Reed (See TQ 08 SW 15). See yellow band on OS 6". The pit is now an area of overgrown wasteland (B5).
