Protected Status/Designation

  • GEOLOGICAL MARKS (Unknown date)

Description

Dimensions - Radius 0008 m
Plan Form - ANNULAR
GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY ON PROPOSED LINE OF WING BYPASS LOCATES ANNULAR FEATURE (RING DITCH?) WITH TRACES OF A SECONDARY, CONCENTRIC FEATURE AROUND IT. FIELD-WALKING IN AREA PRODUCED 2 LATE NEOLITHIC/EBA FLINT CORES (B1-2).

This area was assessed as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). However, no evidence of the ring ditch identified by geohphysical survey was visible on any of the aerial photographs available to the project. There are Google earth images from 2017 and 2018 that possibly suggest subsurface features at this location, but they are extremely tentative and indistinct and therefore do not form part of the project’s digital mapping dataset (3-4)
