Description

DURING ESTATE'S DEVELOPMENT A DARK INFILLED DITCH, 1M ACROSS, RUNNING TOWARDS OLD RAILWAY, SEEN. ALSO SEVERAL PITS, NONE BIGGER THAN 2.5M DIAM, CONTAINING POTTERY. BITS OF BROKEN KILN BAR PRESENT. 1 AREA VERY BLACK. DAVE SHELLEY BELIEVES WHOLE TO BE ROMAN POTTERY KILN SITE, WHICH MEF FINDS ACCEPTABLE (B1). Finds and observations also reported to Shelagh Lewis of Buckingham Museum. Dave Shelley reports that finds (dating from mid to late 1st century) include coins (B2).
