Description

FRAGMENT OF AN IRON AGE STRAP-UNION OF TAYLOR & BRAILSFORD'S TYPE 1, DATED TO LAST 2 CENTURIES BC-1ST 2 CENTURIES AD & THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN USED EITHER AS FITTINGS IN A HORSE-HARNESS OR IN A PERSON'S DRESS. FOUND AT NGR (B1).
Other finds from this location include some seventy-five 2nd-4th century coins very corroded, a quantity of broochs, and two nail cleaners. One of the brooches is a late Iron Age Nauheim type. Another may be an additional piece of the above celtic horse harness mount (B2).
