Description
HOUSE OF GREYFRIARS FOUNDED 1386/1387, PROBABLY FOR 12 FRIARS. THERE WERE 7 FRIARS WHEN DISSOLVED.1 OCT 1538. CONJECTURAL SKETCH BY COUNTY ARCHIVIST OF POSITION OF FRIARY, CAS FILE; NGR TO CENTRE OF THIS AREA (B14); BUT FOR PROBLEMS OF LOCATION & ACCOUNT OF FRIARY'S HISTORY SEE B3. (& SEE CASS 00398).
Part of former Friarage land identified in 19th century deed (B16).
