An entirely natural mound, its top excavated by Cocks in 1906. In the same year prior to the excavation, two skeletons were discovered by gamekeepers while digging for badgers. One was extended with feet to the east, while the other was contracted. Finds inlcude a socketed iron spear-head, a bone pin, flints and scrapers. Three coins, two of Constantine the Great and one of Constantius II, and four small fragments of pseudo-Samian ware were the only evidence of the Roman period. An identical mound immediately to the S and known as Nitton or Pincushion Hill (probably SP 779130) was opened by Dr Lee in 1849 and proved to be natural (B2).
Prominent natural knolls with no evidence of barrows on their summits (B9).
