Description

LARGE CIRCULAR FISHPOND (B1).
CONSIDERABLE PORTION OF ORIGINAL MOAT EXISTS & ALSO LARGE CIRCULAR FISHPOND (B4).
L-SHAPED WATER. SPOIL ON OUTSIDE SUGGESTS USE AS ?FISHPONDS (B5).

A probable medieval and/or post medieval fishpond is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a close about 170 metres NW of Westcott Farm and centred at SP 71819 16924, a linear ditch with rounded ends is about 53 metres NW-SE and 7 metres SW-NE. Flanking the SW facing side is a linear earthwork bank about 52 x 9 metres on the same alignment (6-7).
