Description

Plan Form - L SHAPED
REMAINS OF MOATED SITE OF ANCIENT MANSION (B1).
FRAGMENT OF HOMESTEAD MOAT (B2).
CONSIDERABLE PORTION OF ORIGINAL MOAT EXISTS (B4).
L-SHAPED WATER. PARTIALLY INFILLED ARMS ON S & E SUGGEST INTERPRETATION AS A MOAT LIKELY. E ARM ALSO FITS TRACKWAY PATTERN (B5).



Remains of a homestead moat and a large circular fishpond in "Whitchurch's Close". (Probably those fragments shown on OS 6" 1958 at SP 71821692) (B4)
Not a homestead moat or fishpond but irregular ponds and upcast; the result of quarrying (B9).
No change since report of 12.10.73 (B10).
