Dimensions - Length 0130 cm Width 0120
EXPOSED IN PIPE TRENCH: LENGTH OF LIMESTONE PAVING WITH 3 UPRIGHTS IN POSITION. ROOFLESS STONE CIST EXCAVATED FROM ABOVE, PLAN RECOVERED & SMALL REMAINING AREA OF FILL REMOVED. CIST SET SQUARE TO COMPASS, BROADENING SLIGHTLY TO N (B1).
ALL BONE IN FILL PROBABLY ANIMAL. (SEE FULL REPORT)(B3).




(SP 75862302) A limestone cist was discovered during drainage works at Brook Farm, N Marston about 60.0m east of the Roman Road (RR 162) in March 1973. It was subsequently excavated by M Farley of Bucks Co Museum who found fragmentry bone, pottery sherds of 3 pots and a brooch spring dating from 1st century AD. The finds are in Aylesbury Museum. (B1 and B2).
The site of the cist is now covered by the exact find-spot was indicated to me by M Farley (b1). Surveyed at 1:2500 (B5).
Pottery now belived to be 3rd. Century (B4).
