A POSSIBLE CLUE TO THE NATURE OF VILLAGE SHRINKAGE AT BEACHAMPTON IS GIVEN IN LUFFIELD PRIORY CHARTER, MAY 1470. THIS MENTIONS THE POVERTY OF THE ECCLESIASTICAL BENEFICE DUE TO INCREASING DEPOPULATION OF THE VILLAGE, HENCE LESS CULTIVATION (B3). NGR TO CENTRE OF SETTLEMENT EARTHWORKS.
