(SP 696181) Area of disturbed ground visible. Probable medieval desertion (B9).

Described as a deserted hamlet, 2 cottages were demolished within living memory (B10).

SP 69711823. The site of the deserted medieval hamlet of Ham/Woodham indicated by a number of house platforms, was noted by W George. Two sherds of medieval pottery, found re-cutting a stream on the site are in Bucks County Museum Acc No 238.72. Several houses are shown on Bryant's Map of Bucks, 1824 (B11).

The area of desertion at Ham, 2.5 ha. centred at SP 69701820, is enclosed by broad rig and furrow. It extends over 300m in an E-W direction on fairly level ground except where it is cut by a N-S stream which utilizes or has caused a fairly deep declivity. To the W. of the stream two field plots are discernible. To the E. a further two or three plots can be traced but no building platforms are visible and at the extreme E of the area, at SP 69791823, a banked garden plot incorporated a derelict house until at least circa 1960. Immediately to the N. in an adjacent pasture field an area of 0.5 ha. incoporates amorphous hollows 0.3m to 0.6m deep rather like a series of surface diggings or quarries. The whole area has a general appearance of disturbance and desertion but the remains are either so ill defined or amorphous
that a survey would not produce an intelligible depiction of desertion (B12).
